MEC Updates Syllabus for Bachelor Level Common Entrance Examination (MECEE-BL 2026)

KATHMANDU – The Medical Education Commission (MEC) has released the revised syllabus for the Bachelor Level Common Entrance Examination (MECEE-BL) 2026. While the core structure remains rooted in the 2020 framework, the 2026 revision provides updated weightage and refined sub-topics to align with the current Higher Secondary (+2) curriculum and international medical education standards.

The common entrance remains the mandatory gateway for students seeking admission into MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, B.Pharmacy, and other health science programs across Nepal.

 Key Exam Highlights

The examination continues to follow a rigorous format designed to test both core scientific knowledge and analytical reasoning.

 Total Marks: 200

Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Duration: 3 Hours Marking Scheme: +1 for every correct answer; -0.25 for every wrong answer.

Pass Criteria: Candidates must score at or above the 50th percentile to be included in the merit list.

Prospective students must have completed their +2 Science or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB). A minimum aggregate of 50% or a GPA of 2.4 is required to sit for the examination.

The Medical Education Commission has integrated the application process through its official web portal. Applicants are advised to verify the specific weightage for specialized programs (such as BPH or B.Nursing), as certain technical domains may carry different marks distribution compared to the standard MBBS track.

Note to Aspirants: The 2026 revision places a higher emphasis on the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and clinical application scenarios in Biology. Students are encouraged to focus on conceptual clarity rather than rote memorization.

For official downloads and detailed sub-topic breakdowns, candidates should visit the MEC website at www.mec.gov.np
